ASCENT is a 4-day immersive workshop
The Living Convergence of Kundalini Energy & Kriya Yoga
Where ancient wisdom becomes direct experience
Awaken the Inner Current of Consciousness
There is a deeper intelligence within every human being — a living current of energy, awareness, and consciousness that exists beneath the noise of the mind and the patterns of everyday life.
In the yogic traditions, this force is known as Kundalini: the latent life-force energy within us that, when awakened consciously, becomes a powerful catalyst for transformation, healing, clarity, vitality, and inner awakening.
Kriya Yoga is the sacred science of working with this energy intentionally through breath, meditation, awareness, and inner discipline. Kriya Yoga is considered one of the primary yogic methods for safely and intentionally awakening and directing ones Kundalini energy. Together, Kundalini and Kriya Yoga offer a profound path of self-discovery, energetic refinement, and conscious evolution.
Kundalini is an ancient yogic concept rooted in the spiritual traditions of India and first referenced in sacred texts such as the Upanishads and Vedas. In Sanskrit, the word Kundalini means “coiled serpent,” symbolizing the dormant life-force energy said to rest at the base of the spine near the root chakra.
Within the yogic tradition, Kundalini is understood as the fundamental energy of consciousness and human potential.
Through practices such as meditation, pranayama (breathwork), kriya yoga, mantra, and disciplined self-awareness, this energy can gradually awaken and move upward through the body’s subtle energy centers, known as chakras.
As this awakening unfolds, practitioners may experience greater vitality, emotional release, mental clarity, expanded awareness, heightened intuition, and a deeper connection to themselves and life. Traditionally, Kundalini awakening is not seen as something theatrical or sensational, but as a profound process of inner transformation, energetic refinement, and spiritual evolution.
At its essence, Kundalini represents the awakening of consciousness — the movement from unconscious living toward greater awareness, presence, balance, and connection.
Kriya Yoga is an advanced system of meditation and inner practice within the yogic tradition that works directly with breath, awareness, and prana — the body’s vital life-force energy.
The word Kriya means “action” or “inner action.” Through specific techniques involving pranayama (conscious breathing), concentration, meditation, and subtle energy awareness, Kriya Yoga is designed to calm the mind, purify the nervous system, strengthen concentration, and support the awakening of higher states of consciousness.
Kriya Yoga is considered part of Raja Yoga, often referred to as the “royal path” of yoga — a path centered on meditation and direct inner experience. The practice was brought into wider modern awareness through the lineage of Mahavatar Babaji, Lahiri Mahasaya, and Paramahansa Yogananda, whose teachings introduced Kriya Yoga to the West.
Traditionally, Kriya Yoga is practiced as a disciplined and experiential path of self-realization. Rather than relying on belief alone, it offers practical methods for working consciously with the body, breath, mind, and subtle energy system in order to cultivate greater stillness, awareness, balance, and inner transformation.
In relation to Kundalini, Kriya Yoga is considered one of the primary yogic methods for safely and intentionally awakening and directing this inner life-force energy through conscious practice and meditation.

What Makes This Experience Unique?
ASCENT is not a traditional yoga retreat, nor is it a purely intellectual workshop. It is a grounded and immersive exploration into the living relationship between Kundalini Energy, Kriya Yoga, breath, awareness, and consciousness.
What makes this experience unique is the balance between:
🌿 tangible teachings and direct experience
🌿 ancient wisdom and modern understanding
🌿 energetic practices and grounded integration
🌿 structure and spaciousness
🌿 personal exploration and guided instruction
Beyond Performance — Into Embodied Transformation
Rather than focusing on performance, spiritual identity, or dramatic experiences, ASCENT emphasizes embodiment, nervous system regulation, discernment, inner awareness, and authentic transformation.
Beyond Concepts — Into Direct Experience
Participants are not simply learning concepts — they are invited into direct experience through meditation, kriya practices, breathwork, silence, self-inquiry, and energetic awareness practices designed to support real inner connection and lasting integration.
Guided by Swamiji within the intentional atmosphere of City of New Light, ASCENT offers a rare opportunity to explore these teachings in a safe, supportive, and deeply transformative environment rooted in authenticity and conscious practice.

What Participants Will Gain
Through this immersive workshop experience, participants will gain:
Most importantly, participants will leave not only with knowledge, but with direct experience — a deeper connection to themselves and a clearer understanding of how conscious practice can support transformation from within.
Contribution for Retreat
We ask for a DAKSHINA for this sacred retreat.
*NOTE: the Dakshina is only in exchange for the 1-3+ spiritual practices offered daily by Shivananda Swamiji. If you would like to stay (room and board) at the City of New Light | Monte Sacro, please contact us for details.
Dakshina is the act of giving from a place of inner recognition.
Traditionally, Dakshina is offered to a teacher, a guide, or a sacred space—not to "repay" them, because what is given in wisdom cannot be priced—but to honor the exchange and keep the flow of energy alive.
It is what arises when something within you has been touched—when knowledge, guidance, presence, or truth has shifted you in a real way. Rather than payment, it is a chosen offering from the heart. A quiet acknowledgment that says: I have received, and I choose to give in return—not out of obligation, but fullness.
Dakshina is reciprocity without measure.
It is gratitude made tangible.
It is giving that reflects not the value of the service, but the sincerity of the heart.
It also asks something deeper of the giver—presence, honesty, and self-responsibility.
Not "What is expected?" but "What feels true to give?"
In this way, Dakshina becomes a practice in itself.
A mirror of one's relationship to abundance, worth, and receiving.
And when offered with awareness, it nourishes both directions—
the one who gives, and the one who holds space.
